How to solve Britain's drug problem

" We cannot take 6,000 drugs dealers out on to a piece of waste ground and shoot them in the back of the head", opines Simon Heffer, in today's Daily Telegraph.
Maybe not. But we could put them on trial, and if found guilty, send them off to the gallows. If we are serious about eliminating the evil of drugs from the land, nothing else will do.

Dealers in hard drugs (i.e. cold blooded money-grubbing murderers) have always been on the hit-list gorija.
Aren't they on yours?
I have never advocated the death penalty for pro-war bloggers or post-1980 sitcom writers. For the former, I propose a six month period in military service in Iraq or Afghanisatan. For the latter, I'd recommend them watching the collected works of Galton and Simpson, Perry and Croft and Esmonde and Larbey to see how it should be done.

You are clearly a far more vengeful person than I am.
But sending out DVDs (sans electric chair) is a sound idea, not only for them, but for you too, as you your memories of 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' seem to me to be pretty inaccurate. The main figure of fun in the show is RSM Williams, (brilliantly played by Windsor Davies)and it's his o.t.t. homophobia we're laughing at (he thinks everyone in the concert party is a 'poof', except of course his favourite, Gunner Parkin..)- not the fact that Bombadier Beaumont is a 'poofter'. But there's much, much more to the series than the occasional 'poof'/ 'you bunch of poofs' jibe from Davies. There's Michael Bates' wonderful portrayal of the bearer Rangi Ram, those fabulous silly arse officers Reynolds and Ashford, and of course, the unforgettable Mr 'La De Da' 'University educated' Gunner Graham. The RSMs' resentment of Gunner Graham ('I say, Sgt Major')- and the latter's witty ripostes- are for me, one of the highlights of the show. Honestly, you've got a serious sense of humour failure if you don't find this show funny. It has at least as many side-spittingly, laugh-out loud moments as Dad's Army, possibly even more.
